This year has witnessed the term tablescaping (the art of setting your table) being discussed and indulged in more than ever before.  Setting a dinner table in an elaborate way is now a widely acknowledged trend and it appears to have a good deal of staying power for the future. In fact it is now becoming almost a craze for all age groups, and as someone who has always had an infinite love of parties, knick knacks, beautiful little treasures and gorgeous kitchen / tableware, I can’t even begin to tell you how much this appeals to me!

Taking pleasure in creating a dinner table in a more elaborate style is reminiscent of earlier times such as in the 17th century. By carefully considering colour schemes, styling details and sourcing accessories both contemporary and vintage it is a trend worth considering for any party or special event. Complementing placemats, crockery and cutlery and choosing napkins, candles and flowers in vases or scattered on the table can be a joy to create, and can cost as little or as much as you like. In future blogs we will delve deeper into where and how you can source your gorgeous little details, and recommend fellow suppliers of beautiful goodies.

As we are released from Covid-19 restrictions, our year dreaming about entertaining family and friends can now become reality. We moved into our new home almost a year ago and still haven’t been able to have a housewarming party and only close family have even seen our house! As someone who lives to entertain and throw a good shindig, this really sucks! I can’t wait to throw some fabulous parties.

Recently, an increased popularity for strong, bright colours and bold, striking patterns to decorate the dining table is unsurprising as many of us have craved more excitement and visual stimulation after being stuck inside looking at those same four walls. There has been a use of rainbow colours everywhere since the first lockdown which demonstrated a fundamental delight in how bright colours can uplift our mood.

With my love of colour and natural imagery evident in all Bean and Bemble’s placemats, serving boards and coasters, I can’t wait to provide inspiration and hopefully help you create beautiful tablescapes in your home.
